Hikmet Hajiyev denies statements misattributed to him by Türkiye Gazetesi
Statements by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, were distorted in a report published on August 5, 2026, by Türkiye Gazetesi journalist Yilmaz Bilgen. Hajiyev clarified the situation in a post on his X account.
"We had an interesting meeting with Turkish media representatives visiting Azerbaijan. However, I regret to note that in the report published on August 5, 2026, by Türkiye Gazetesi journalist Yilmaz Bilgen, some views attributed to me were presented in a distorted manner. A number of statements attributed to me in that article are inaccurate," Hajiyev stated.
The presidential aide further emphasized that the Republic of Azerbaijan pursues an independent and principled foreign policy guided strictly by its national interests.
